ScreenCircle Africa is opening its doors to filmmakers, content creators and other creatives with a free networking event, "ScreenCircle Hangout 1:1," scheduled for September 25 from 12pm to 5pm in Lekki. The event will feature a film screening, a live conversation and a networking session, with registration free but capped at 70 seats.
The Hangout is being positioned as an entry point into ScreenCircle's wider community, which the organisation describes as a growing network of creatives, storytellers, filmmakers, content creators and creative entrepreneurs built around learning, connection and collaboration. Beyond individual creatives, ScreenCircle says it is also courting brands, investors and organisations interested in the creative economy, whether through funding ideas, partnering on projects, or supporting the community more broadly.
Two guest speakers have been confirmed for the event so far. Akorede Ajayi, known professionally as The Korexx, is a Nigerian screen, stage and voice actor recognised for roles in Brotherhood, Small Talk, Unscripted and Itura, alongside appearances in Mr Macaroni's Comedy Universe. He holds a degree in Theatre Arts from Redeemer's University and a screen acting certification from EbonyLife Creative Academy, and has previously hosted major events including the Eko Heritage Awards.
The second confirmed speaker is Funmbi Toye, an actress known for roles in Far From Home, Under the Influence and Ile Owo. She is also an EbonyLife Creative Academy alumna, where she won Best Supporting Actress for the short film Na Man You Be.
Interested filmmakers, content creators and creatives can register for free via the link on ScreenCircle Africa's social media pages, with seats limited to 70 on a first-come basis.
