Chiamaka Yusuf, daughter of late Nollywood actor Diewait Ikpechukwu and his wife, Ebelechukwu, has appealed to the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) and social media users to stop sharing videos and reports about her father’s death, asking that the family be allowed to make its own announcement.
In an emotional video shared on her social media accounts, Chiamaka expressed distress over reports of her father’s passing circulating online before the family had made an official announcement.
She said she wanted the opportunity to announce his death herself and asked the guild and other social media users not to publish content about him without the family’s consent.
Chiamaka, who disclosed that she was still wearing her late father’s shirt, made the appeal in tears.
“Please, AGN, I don’t want you guys posting my daddy,” she said. “Make nobody post my papa, please. This is a very hard video for me to make. Let me make the video I want to announce and say my papa died. I don’t want you guys to do that for me, please.”
