OracleFilmsTV, the streaming platform founded by Nigerian filmmaker Okey Oku, has rolled out a significant update to its Apple and Android app, promising subscribers a faster and more stable viewing experience. The update, announced via Oku’s Instagram page, introduces enhanced performance, seamless streaming, quicker navigation and a more immersive overall interface, changes the platform describes as ushering in “a new era of entertainment.”
The update comes at a moment when OracleFilmsTV’s original content slate is gaining traction. Blackout, Oku’s psychological thriller following a woman who wakes up to a husband and family she does not remember, is currently featured as one of the platform’s top rated titles, alongside fellow originals BlackRose and Puff. Blackout, which had its cinema release in February 2025 following an Enugu premiere, has since moved to streaming availability on OracleFilmsTV, where it continues to draw viewership as part of the platform’s growing slate of PG-13 suspense titles.

Founded by Okey Oku, who also directed and served as cinematographer on the Netflix feature BlackRose, OracleFilmsTV positions itself as a dedicated home for Nigerian film and television content, offering both downloadable and streaming access to its catalogue. The platform’s push for original productions has continued alongside Oku’s broader filmmaking work, which includes credits on Strained and a number of other Nollywood titles distributed through the app.
The update is part of a wider infrastructure investment by Oku’s production company, Pure Sound and Visual Technology, which last year broke ground on the Oracle Films Village in Enugu, a dedicated production hub intended to expand local filmmaking capacity. Industry observers note that platforms like OracleFilmsTV represent a growing trend of Nigerian filmmakers building independent distribution channels rather than relying solely on international streaming partners to reach audiences.

The updated app is currently available exclusively on IOS and Android, with subscribers directed to download or update via Apple store or Google Play.
