The family of late veteran Nollywood actor Chief Francis Duru has issued an official disclaimer urging the public, fans, and well-wishers to disregard misleading flyers and unverified details regarding his funeral arrangements currently circulating online.

In a statement published on the late actor's official Instagram handle, the family clarified that unauthorized posts containing incorrect details about his state of origin, local government area (LGA), and burial timelines are false.

The family emphasized that all verified updates concerning final burial rites, including the Service of Songs and Night of Tributes, will be communicated exclusively through his official social media channels.

"Kindly disregard all misleading flyers and incorrect details, including false statements regarding our state of origin and LGA, currently circulating regarding the funeral arrangements for our beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, Chief Francis Duru," the statement read. "All official updates, including details for the service of songs/Night of Tributes by various groups, will be communicated exclusively by his family through his official social media channels. We kindly ask the public, friends, and well-wishers to disregard any unauthorized posts or rumors."

The disclaimer was officially signed by his children, Ebuka Duru and Onyekachi Duru, alongside his sister, Anthonia Chenyi (nee Duru), who expressed gratitude for the overwhelming outpouring of love, prayers, and condolence messages from colleagues, fans, and government representatives during this period.

The notice comes following the passing of the acclaimed actor on October 23, 2026, at the age of 57. Known for his seminal roles in classic Nollywood productions such as Rattlesnake and Mboputa, Francis built a career spanning over three decades, earning national accolades and serving as interim president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).

The family has advised the public to rely strictly on his official Instagram page (@francis.duru) for authentic announcements concerning his final transition rites.
