The family of late actress, singer and beauty queen Jessica Ifunanyachukwu Ndigwe, popularly known as JessCee, has announced the official arrangements for her burial in Awka, Anambra State.
Jessica died in a fatal car accident on Friday 28th August 2026 at the age of 23. Born on 14th August 2003, her death came barely two weeks after her 23rd birthday and only days after the release of Konami, her latest single and one of the strongest pieces of music she had made.
The announcement was issued by her Father Prince Ikechukwu Henry Ndigwe, known as Mbuze Awka, of Umuayom Village, Amaenyi in Awka South Local Government Area, Anambra State. A Service of Songs will hold on Friday 4th September 2026. Her body will leave Apex Mortuary on Secretariat Road at 10:00am on Saturday 5th September 2026, proceeding to her father's compound at No. 4 Prince Ikechukwu Ndigwe Street, Odera Estate, behind Immigration, Awka, Anambra State, where her burial and funeral rites will take place.
Jessica whose journey in the Nigerian entertainment industry cuts across several careers before her death brought the journey to an abrupt end. She began through beauty pageantry, representing Awka South Local Government Area at the Teen Queen Anambra State Grand Final in 2018 and later competing as Candidate Number 4 in the Face of Glamorous Queen Miss Culture 2022 competition. By 2021, she had joined the cast of Mostly Straight, a Nigerian high school web series appearing alongside Henry Chukz, Johnpaul Gosioha, Kimbel Simeon, and Ivan Imoka among others. Her next major acting credit came when she was cast as Octavia in Class of Secrets Season 2.
Away from acting, she was also developing her music catalogue under the name JessCee, releasing songs including Loyal, Halle, Won't Lie, and MR MAN, alongside songwriting credits that included Woza, released in 2024. Konami, which she released only days before her death, had been finding new listeners at the time the accident happened.
She came from the Ndigwe family, which has a history in the Nigerian film and entertainment industry. Veteran actress Chinelo Ndigwe, actors Emeka Ndigwe and Uche Ndigwe, and filmmaker and actress Nicolette Ndigwe-Kalu are among members of the wider family with connections to film.
Tributes have continued to pour in from colleagues, friends, and people who encountered her work through both acting and music.
